Make standards specific

Translate values into observable working practices. Explain what reliable delivery and good service mean in context. Teams need examples they can apply when the situation is ambiguous or priorities compete.

Make concerns easy to raise

Create a clear route for resolving conflicts between speed, cost and quality. Encourage early discussion of mistakes and near misses. Standards have limited value if people cannot speak up when they become difficult to meet.

Improve the underlying process

When performance falls short, examine the conditions behind the result. Unclear instructions, weak handoffs or unrealistic workloads may need attention. Use the findings to improve the process and check that the change helps over time.
